A.leave B.desert C.abandon D.quit 答案C。译文：由于这个女孩的母亲生病，她不得不放弃旅行。 【试题分析】 本题是近义词辨析题，四个选择均有离开、背弃、放弃之意，要求考生用心掌握细微差别和常用词语搭配。 词义辨析 leave是一般用语着重强调“离开”、“遗留下”的意思，如：leave the lunch at home指“将午餐留在了家里”。desert指抛弃、遗弃某人，此用法与abandon相同，但不用于放弃计划、打算等。quit指停止、中止或放弃(信仰、行动、工作等)。如：quit smoking停止吸烟；quit the job辞职。

A.observe B.abide by C.comply with D.keep 答案B。译文：他会言而有信，你可以依仗他的协助。 【试题分析】 本题是近义词(组)辨析题。要求学生掌握各词组的细微差别及常用的习惯搭配。 词义辨析 observe指遵守、服从法律、风俗习惯等。如：observe the rules/good manners等，abide by表示遵守规则、约定、诺言等，“遵守诺言”可表达为abide by one’s promise, 也可表达为abide by what is said(或what…have/has said); keep也表示遵守，多指遵守法律、条约、约定等，如：keep the law/a treaty/a secret；遵守诺言只能表达 为keep (a) promise; comply with表示“(对命令、要求等)服从，依从”。
例如：Carolyn has the ability to think quickly and clearly.凯洛琳才思敏捷，思 路清晰。 【记忆技巧】 ability派生于形容词able“能够…的”；反义词为inability。注意：able的反义词为unable。 【典型考题】 I do not doubt your ability ___. able adj. having the power to do sth.有能力的，能… 例如：He alone has been able to swim across the channel up to now.到现在为止，只有他能游过那个海峡。 【记忆技巧】 able→ n. ability, v. enable。这些词都与不定式连用，如：be able to do sth.能(做某事)，会…；(have)the ability to do sth.具有…的能力；enable…to do 使…能(干某事)
abnormal adj. different from what is normal, ordinary or expected不正常的，反常的 例如：This warm weather is abnormal for February.在2月里，如此温暖的天气不太正常。 【记忆技巧】 ①反义词：normal ab为前缀，表示“偏离”、“离开”的意思。②派生词：abnormality n. 反常，变态，畸型；abnormally adv. 反常地，例外地 【典型考题】 An___ amount of rain fell in October. A.irregular B.unusual C.abnormal D.odd 答案C。译文：10月份下了一场异常大的雨。 【试题分析】 本题是近义词的辨析题。 词义辨析 irregular是regular的反义词，指无规律的、不正规的、偏离风俗习惯和常规做法等；unusal指不常发生的、少有的、独特而奇怪的，odd相当于strange，表示奇特的、古怪，多指人的性格、行为古怪，abnormal指超过适当的限度而显得异常。
prep. on or in a ship, aircraft or a train在(船、飞机、火车等)上 例如：It’s time to go aboard.上船(或上车、登机)的时间到了。 【记忆技巧】 board意为“木板，甲板”。前缀a与名词一起，构成副词或介词。 【常用词组】 go aboard 上(船、飞机等)；All aboard!各位，请上车(船、飞机)；Welcome aboard!欢迎搭乘本车(船 、飞机)!(欢迎语) 【典型考题】 John has never been ___a plane. A.abroad B.absorb C.above D.aboard 答案D。译文：约翰从没上过飞机。 【试题分析】 本题是形近词辨析题。
abolish vt. put an end to, do away with(war, slavery, an old custom)废除，废除(战争、奴隶制、旧的习俗) 例如：Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery in the United States.亚伯拉罕·林肯废除了美国的奴隶制。 【记忆技巧】 abolition n. 废止，废除；abolitionism n. 废奴主义 【典型考题】 There are many bad customs and laws that ought to be___. A.cancelled B.abolished C.repealed D.eliminated 答案B。译文：有许多不良的风俗和法规应当废除。 【试题分析】本题是近义词辨析题。词义辨析 abolish多指废除不合理的，而通常又是长期 存在的制度、风俗等；cancel指临时取消已安排的计划、会议、旅行、球赛等。如：cancel a plan/a hotel reservation/a trip/a football game等；repeal指废止法令、判决或决议等；eliminate指消除，删除，淘汰(竞争者)。
