At the Table 在餐桌上
(H-Hu S-Smith)
Hu: Won't you have some of the chicken in chili sauce?
Smith: Yes, thanks. It looks enticing. How do you make it?
Hu: I use some special homemade dressings. My mother told me how to make it.
Smith: It's really delicious.
Hu: I'm glad you like it.
Smith: When you cook Chinese food, do you follow recipes from books?
Hu: Sometimes we use recipes, but mainly we learn to cook by experience. My mother is a great cook, but she never uses any recipes.
Smith: I always learn to cook by using recipes, but I'm still a poor cook.
Hu: Help yourself to some more steak and eggs, please. Don't stand on ceremony.
Smith: I never do with my friends. In fact, I feel quite at home.
Hu: Have some more soup, please.
Smith: I'm afraid I've had enough.
Hu: Allow me to pour you another cup of beer.
Smith: No, thanks. I don't want anything more. I've had an excellent dinner.
H: I'm glad to hear that. I think we should get together again sometime.
Smith: Yes, that is a great idea.
胡小姐：多吃点麻辣子鸡。
史密斯：好吧，谢谢。这看起来真诱人。这是怎样做的?
胡小姐：我用的是自己调制的调味品。按母亲告诉我的方法做的。
史密斯：真香。

胡小姐：多喝点汤吧。

史密斯：不用了，谢谢。我不能再吃了。我已经吃了一顿非常好的晚餐了。
